A damaged hip can make even the most basic tasks – even sleeping – painful. We specialize in diagnosing hip conditions from the simple to complex, and then our team of physicians, physical therapists, and surgeons work with you to find a suitable method of treatment. Ultimately, our goal is for you to be able to return to the activities that motivate and inspire you, without the pain.

Common Hip Conditions

Hip pain can be the result of a condition that has developed over time, such as bursitis and arthritis, or a recent injury, like a fracture or dislocation. If not detected early, this can create extreme bone and joint discomfort, making surgery a credible option for relieving your pain. Very active people and athletes in particular are susceptible to degenerative hip disease brought on by an underlying abnormality. Osteoarthritis (OA) can develop, breaking down the protective cartilage tissue in the joint and causing pain.

Symptoms

  • Joint pain felt in the front and along the outside of the hip, in the groin, or over the buttock area
  • Discomfort and swelling in the thigh and knee
  • Joint inflammation or muscle spasms
  • Limping or inability to walk comfortably on the affected side
  • Inability to bend or rotate the hip
  • Soreness and the feeling of throbbing while sleeping

Our team will work with you to diagnose your condition and develop a suitable treatment plan. We utilize both surgical and nonsurgical techniques to treat patients who are suffering with pain or loss of mobility due to conditions or injuries in these joints. If you are experiencing hip pain, or want to learn more about our services, make an appointment with a specialist at Fort HealthCare Orthopaedic Associates, or contact your primary care provider. Let our expertise work to help you return to the activities you enjoy.
