Fort HealthCare utilizes advanced technology to inform our doctors and treat our patients. Advanced orthopaedic imaging allows our doctors to create detailed pictures of your bones and joints to put you on the road to recovery. An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a key tool our physicians use to diagnose injuries or conditions that can’t be identified otherwise.
The MRI is a painless test, using magnets and radio waves to create 3-D images of your body. Doctors will use these images to look for joint degradation, tumors, fractures, or other damage. The test takes 30 to 60 minutes, where you’ll lie on a narrow table in a tunnel-shaped machine. You may be injected with a special dye (contrast) to improve the MRI image. Our State-of-the-art Picture Archival and Communication System (PACS) allows for a fully integrated process, so physicians can look at images on a computer wherever they are, eliminating the need to transport images throughout the hospital or deliver images to different facilities. Our team of specialists then interprets the results of the scan, which guide treatment decisions on the best route to recovery. After the MRI, you are able to get back to normal activities right away. Your doctor will discuss your results with you during a follow-up appointment or over the phone.
Fort HealthCare is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR), after an assessment of image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs. Our MRI technology includes the new Signa™ Architect MRI system from GE Healthcare, the most advanced MRI available today. Fort Memorial Hospital is the first hospital of its size in the nation to have this equipment. With our state-of-the-art facilities, expertly qualified personal, and dedication to the patient, you know you are getting the highest quality services available.
